Maitland City Council is developing its first Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS) to guide our long-term direction for community infrastructure provision.

The CIS ensures Council delivers priority infrastructure projects based on community feedback and will guide decision making for how we plan, fund, deliver and advocate for community infrastructure over the next 20 years.

Community infrastructure includes buildings, open spaces and services Council has responsibility for, plays a role in delivering or advocates for, on behalf of the community.

The CIS looks at 10 key categories of community infrastructure, including aquatic facilities, playspaces, local libraries and museum, community facilities, Maitland Regional Art Gallery and public art, public open spaces, outdoor recreation facilities, indoor sports facilities, outdoor sports facilities and public toilets.

Roads and road related infrastructure are not included as part of the CIS. These will be captured as part of Council’s Civil Asset Strategy.

Community consultation has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the draft Community Infrastructure Strategy and share your feedback during the engagement and public exhibition periods. Your input has played an important role in refining the Strategy and will help ensure our long-term planning, investment and advocacy for community infrastructure reflects the needs and priorities of the Maitland community over the next 20 years.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, this map is indicative only and discrepancies may be present.

Related projects and past engagement

Over the past years we've been collecting lots of community input and feedback into what community infrastructure is needed and what we need to prioritise. This data, along with the current CIS engagement data will support a comprehensive plan for our future neighbourhood assets. Your input has and will be invaluable in shaping this.
