Maitland was declared a natural disaster area in May 2025. From June to August 2025, we sought feedback from local businesses, non-government organisations and community members impacted by the May 2025 floods as part of our efforts to advocate for business and community support during the recovery process.

Your input has helped us better understand the situation on the ground and will strengthen our case for the support and assistance that our community needs.

Based on your feedback, we'll be popping up at local events, schools and shopping centres to speak with the community about emergency awareness and preparedness. You'll be able to find us at upcoming Street Eats events, alongside NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Local Land Services and NSW State Emergency Service.

Your feedback will continue to inform future services, resources and the development of our upcoming Community Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Plan.
