The Youth Working Party will provide a space for discussion of youth issues in Maitland and will offer advice and feedback that helps shape youth planning and activities.

A key role of the group will be to help shape and guide the delivery of Maitland’s Youth Forum in 2026, ensuring the Forum reflects the interests, priorities and voices of local young people. Members will contribute ideas around themes, topics, speakers, activities and engagement approaches to support a meaningful and inclusive event.

We welcome applications from:

  • Young people aged 12–24 who live, work, study or have strong connections to Maitland
  • Community members interested in youth wellbeing
  • Organisations and service providers supporting young people
  • First Nations organisations and representatives

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about supporting young people in our community.

Members will be appointed for a set term, until the end of 2026, with meetings held approximately once a month in the lead-up to the Youth Forum, which is expected to be held in late 2026. Adult members must have, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check. Those under the age of 18, will need parent/guardian consent to participate.
