Community Information Session - Morpeth to Walka Shared Pathway
Following community feedback on the initial designs in 2024, we undertook a detailed assessment of route options for the proposed Morpeth to Walka Shared Pathway and publicly exhibited a revised preferred route in late 2025. The near 15km pathway loop is designed to improve connectivity and support more active transport options, linking key destinations including Rutherford, Walka Water Works, Central Maitland, East Maitland and Morpeth.
Following the public exhibition period, we received extensive feedback on Section 3 of the route between East Maitland and Morpeth. In response to this feedback, Council resolved at its meeting on 21 April 2026 to undertake a further round of community and Councillor consultation for this section of the pathway.
As part of this consultation, a community information session will be held at the Maitland Administration Centre, giving residents the opportunity to discuss the project with staff.
To have your say and for more information including maps of the proposed routes, visit mait.city/MorpethtoWalka before midnight Sunday 14 June 2026.
