Maitland’s face to face Visitor Information Service is on the move
From Friday 1 May 2026, Maitland’s Visitor Information Service will relocate to Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
The move follows a comprehensive review of Visitor Information Services including engagement that received 1028 submissions, with the responses showing strong support for the continuation of a face-to-face offering.
In-person visits to the current Visitor Information Centre site do not justify a standalone service so Council has resolved to move the service to Maitland Regional Art Gallery, which is already a significant cultural attraction in our city.
The new location will provide a more accessible face-to-face experience for visitors as well as new and existing residents, with its close proximity to key locations in Central Maitland and major event sites such as Steamfest.
The Central Park Café, RV parking, RV dump point and facilities will remain operational at the site on the corner of the New England Highway and High Street.
A report on the future use of what is currently known as the Visitor Information Centre building will be presented to Council at April’s meeting.
