Help shape our Waste Services

We’re reviewing our waste services and how they’re working for our community, as we develop our next Waste Services Management Plan (2027–2030).

The current Waste Services Management Plan (2023–2026) maps out how we deliver waste, recycling and resource recovery services, and supports Maitland’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy (ESS), which includes targets to increase recycling, and reduce waste and illegal dumping. A key goal of the ESS is to divert 80 per cent of household waste from landfill by 2030.

As we reach the midpoint of this long-term strategy, we’re checking in with our community to understand what’s working well, what could be improved and how services can better support households.

Have your say

Your feedback will help shape a greener, more sustainable waste service for Maitland.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete.

Your feedback will help us:

  • Review how current waste services are being used
  • Understand barriers to recycling and Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO)
  • Identify opportunities to improve access, clarity and convenience
  • Shape future waste services as Maitland continues to grow

Our survey focuses on your everyday experience with waste services, including how often you use your bins, what helps or prevents you from recycling or using FOGO, your awareness of bulky-waste vouchers, drop-off services and free programs, and what would make it easier for you to recycle more.

Your feedback will directly inform the next Waste Management Plan and guide future improvements to waste services, including recycling and FOGO enhancements, bulky waste and drop-off services, reuse and circular economy opportunities, and better support to help households separate waste more effectively.
